To be honest most people who don't mould into the EA scene will leave anyhow, if not, as you say its kicking time, not like we've not done it before, but from experience on other linkshells the plusses are far greater than the minuses, eg you do get some newbies who just need a little guidance and wheee they are on their way to greatness, and also you get higher level people who are bored stupid or need a change from their linkshells.
My fave is those who ditched or otherwise their social linkshells for end game and now need a social shell to hang out on, especially when their social one became end game only, there are some people like that out there still. All too often some shells become totally empty when sister shells run dynamis or sky/sea runs and its like those of us with it not unlocked sit there going "um...... so nice weather" hehe.
A nice skill mix would be nice on EA as sometimes its hard having people at the very beginning and at the very top of the level ranges, plus a mixture of timezones would be so cool especially if you are like some and work shifts, or live in other timezones, all too often i've sat there and talked to myself for an hour or so, poor telfare has witnessed me answering myself on several occasions ^^
meh it was an idea, i'll leave it to all of you to arrange and i'll just stand around windy looking cool eating cookies and cakes.
The only thing i will warn of, though, is that when you do random, open recruitments (especially by means of /sh), you run the risk of getting people who do not mesh with the overall attitude and personality of the current LS. They can, however, be "weeded" out with a simple /kick, if necessary.
